nternship: PFAS removal from wastewater

PFAS contamination poses a serious threat to water quality, public health, and environmental sustainability— Nijhuis Saur Industries is committed to providing innovative and effective solutions. PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are known for their resistance to degradation and are found in various industrial and consumer products. Due to their environmental persistence and potential health risks, PFAS are now subject to stringent regulations across Europe and the United States. We are focusing on developing innovative, energy-efficient, and sustainable treatment technologies that can effectively remove and destruct PFAS from water systems. These solutions aim to minimize secondary waste, reduce operational costs, and support long-term environmental resilience.

Your goal 

The goal of this internship is to optimize processes that aim to reduce chemical use, minimize waste, and improve the overall sustainability of PFAS removal.

What will you be doing? We have listed it for you:

• Testing novel materials for PFAS removal under different water quality conditions.

• Investigating how different process conditions affect treatment performance

• Analyzing water quality data

• Proposing optimized treatment processes for sustainability and energy efficiency

Who are you?

• Enrolled in a Dutch BSc or MSc Chemical, (Bio) Process, Civil or Environmental Engineering study.

• Available for an internship for a minimal period of 5 months.  

• Flexible and independent.

• Curious and analytical.

• Professional command of the English language in words and writing.
